The first Sunday in December our neighborhood has a luminary night. I love this tradition. It's a great way to start off the season. All the neighbors get their lights out and buy their bags to light and set out one curb. It's so festive and very beautiful even if it is a little rainy like this year.
Santa comes by around 4:00 while everyone is out setting up their bags. All the kids chase him around the circle picking up candy.

Almost time to light the candles in the bags.

Most people use a lighter for this job, but not Daniel, he breaks out the torch.

All the kids love Michelle's singing tree.

The girls.

What a great group of kids. We are very luck to live in such a great place with so many wonderful neighbors.
Yes you are lucky. I would really like to see your street with all of the luminaries. Doesn't Dan's torch set the bag on fire?
ReplyDeletehow fun! hope you guys have a merry christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to participate for the first time this year. Hopefully next year won't be so wet. I think Dan has the right idea with the torch...gets the job done!!
ReplyDeleteThat really is a wonderful way to start the Christmas season and so great that Santa comes along and throws out candy. I suppose the adults have just as much fun as the kids.
ReplyDeleteGreat neighborhood!
I have to say that's the one thing I miss about Albuquerque, the luminaries at Christmas time. Sounds like a great tradition!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best neighborhood!
