Wednesday night Daniel and Trixie took Adam to soccer practice. At about 8:45 I got a call from Daniel. I thought he was going to take Adam for a treat and was calling to see what I would like. I was really wrong. Instead he asked if I could come get them in the truck and bring a rope. His car had stopped on the the side of 79 and he needed me to tow him home.
I loaded up the kids and off we went. Sorry I don't have better pictures but we weren't really in a good place to be posing and we were in kind of a hurry to get off the road.
So Dan tied the rope to the bumper of the red car......

and then to the back of the truck . Off we went. My only instructions were to stop really early and go slow. So we made it down 79 with cars flying past us then turned on to 122 or Red Bud. I thought this road would be much better because it wasn't a highway. Wrong! As I looked behind me there was a big line of cars all trying to get around me because there really isn't anywhere to pass. Now I feel like that big tractor or fool who is moving something too big and stopping all of traffic because they can only go 20 miles per hour. Needless to say we made it home safe and the first thing Dan says to me is I could have gone faster. Then he said, haven't you ever towed a car before? Well let me think about that.....NO! I mean come on how many women have really helped tow a car? OK, maybe Julie Phipps has but that's just because she is married to Daniels brother Steve and he is just as bad as Daniel if not worse.
Well all is good now and it did give me something to post about.
I hope you honked when you drove by!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother good and very interesting learning experience in your life----hope you never have to do it again!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the U-Haul truck you drove with bad brakes!
So glad you made it home safely.
I think you should start a business. Nancy's Tow. Just show up with your rope.
ReplyDeleteNancy i hate to say it but i have actually helped to tow 2 cars in the short time i have been with ken. Well maybe it was the same car twice. Either way it is really nerve racking and everyone driving around you hates you cuz you have to go so slow. I am proud you made it though. Kudos to you.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I being the nice person I am, passed Dan and Adam after soccer practice, U-turned and stop to ask him if he needed any help.
ReplyDeleteAnd he just smiles and looks at me and is like "Nope, were just going to sit out here for a bit."
And that's it!
So I drive away thinking Dan just marches to a different drum, but whatever. Anyway, my husband has had me tow him a couple of times but apparantly I go a little too fast. And he would have given my a one sentence explanation too. Sshhheesh not everyone lives in boy "car world!"
Of course I've towed a car. DAN'S CAR! We drove to Winnamuca, Nevada from Provo and picked him up and towed him all the way back. It is a pain and I guess I've been a Phipps too long to even think about it! This was a totally funny post! Thanks for getting me thinking about all the funny things that have happened to us!
ReplyDeleteYou know which one of your friends to call when you need help in this department...
ReplyDeleteFeel free to call next time. I've towed and been towed a couple of times in my day.
