Turtle

A neighbor knocked on my door the other day and asked if Alison or I had a pet turtle. I thought this was odd and told her no. She said well there is a big turtle on Alison's driveway and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't yours and had gotten loose. Lets just think about that for a minute. If I did have a turtle how would it have gotten all the way over to Alison's?
Anyway, I of course grabbed my camera and ran over. Sure enough it was like he was just waiting for the kids to get home from school.

How exciting! I think the turtle was a little freaked out but the kids loved it.

They took it to the back yard where it would be a little more comfortable. They also tried to feed it strawberries because Carson's class last year had a turtle that really enjoyed them.

I don't think he ever ate the strawberries or came out of his shell. Now he is back in the pasture and very happy to away from all the kids.

  1. Seems like you have a new adventure everyday---how exciting! That really was a big turtle but where was Sophie, the animal lover in the family?

  3. Actually....turtles can travel very fast very far. More than you'd think. If you did have a turtle that escaped, it wouldn't suprise me to see it over at Alisons. It's not that far, really.
That one looks like a Red-eared slider, a common turtle around these here parts! Hope he's off to a happy place to relax. :)

  4. Sara's right. That turtle does run fast....he did end up eating the strawberries and then running back home (the cow cage)!
